The Scottish European Green Energy Centre’s (SEGEC) principal remit is to facilitate innovative, collaborative, low-carbon, infrastructure projects which deliver real benefits for Scotland, the UK and Europe. SEGEC works to secure investments from a range of public grants and private sector funds, including EU funding streams that have been allocated to support market and technology development. Working with collaborative partners, SEGEC maximises the potential to contribute to the European Energy and Emissions targets for 2020 and beyond.

Established in 2009, SEGEC has delivered over €110M of EU funding for low-carbon energy projects. An independent, not-for-profit organisation, SEGEC is supported by the Scottish Government, European Regional Development Fund, Scottish Enterprise, Highlands and Islands Enterprise, ScottishPower and SSE.

Position overview
SEGEC is a partner in the Atlantic Power Cluster, an EU funded project with 5 other European countries covering 17 regions with an interest in marine energy. The main objectives of this project are:

• To build a transnational marine energy strategy in the Atlantic Area.
• To create an adequate political and social environment for the marine energies.
• To enhance the competitiveness and innovation capacities of the industrial community in the Atlantic regions.

SEGEC is now recruiting a project officer for the Atlantic Power Cluster project. The post will be Aberdeen or Inverness based, but the successful applicant will be expected to travel regularly within Europe.

The project officer will be responsible for:

• liaison with project partners, key stakeholders and other consortium members
• working with the relevant sectors to engage with European associations

You will have a good working knowledge of energy policy and opportunities for increasing the deployment of sustainable energy technology, and experience from industry, research, government or a related agency, strong project management and communication skills and a pro-active approach.
