The role • Manage and contribute to consultancy projects for policy makers in the UK and EU • Apply economics expertise to a broad range of environmental policy issues • Work effectively as a team member on a range of projects • Provide support and guidance to less experienced members of staff • Maintain a detailed and up to date knowledge of environmental policies in a relevant practice area • Lead and provide written technical content for the preparation of bids and reports • Carry out business development activities in the field of environmental policy, including liaison with customers and potential customers The candidate • Experience of policy consultancy to the public sector or policy delivery within the public sector • Strong background in economics and experience of applying this expertise in policy consultancy or policy delivery • Experience of using policy analysis tools such as cost effectiveness and analysis, cost benefit analysis and multi-criteria analysis • Experience in assessing the wider economic impacts of policies and measures, including impacts on competitiveness and jobs • Knowledge of key policy issues in a relevant environmental field at UK and EU level Key skills • Good report writing skills • Highly numerate, logical and analytical • Effective oral, presentation and written communication skills • Excellent customer focus - capable of supporting and developing peers • A degree or an equivalent level of education
