EMSc comments on the Shangri-La Hotel
It is fantastic to see that yet another ambitious construction is taking place in our capital city, London. Located in central London, the 5-star, 202-room 'Shangri-La at The Shard' is the first new-build 5-star hotel development in Central London in over a decade. Not only this, the development boasts to be the tallest building currently under construction in the whole of Europe.
The new luxury hotel will be located inside the spire of the Shard and at 1,016 feet high; The Shard is regarded as one of the most ambitious architectural accomplishments in the United Kingdom.
At a time when the UK economy is extremely focused on becoming environmentally friendly and energy efficiency is a paramount objective, this strong push towards sustainability must also be seriously considered in all new build developments. I feel the ambition of this construction should also reflect in the projects energy efficiency strategy.
A flagship development like this provides the ideal opportunity to promote the UK’s sustainability focus and the fantastic UK manufactured energy saving solutions available. Through investing in energy saving technologies from UK based organisations it will give a much needed boost to the economy and will highlight to the world that UK manufacturing is still thriving.
EMSc (UK) Ltd are the proud manufacturers of the award winning, market leading Powerstar voltage optimisation. With importing products from China and Japan becoming increasingly popular EMS are proud to manufacture a proven energy saving technology in the UK, and fly the flag for British manufacturing on a global scale.
With an already outstanding record within the hotel industry, I feel more flagship projects should turn to Powerstar to achieve guaranteed savings and maximise the sustainability of all new build projects. EMS’s established specialist new build division will ensure no aspect is overlooked in creating the idyllic energy saving solution for projects such as the Shangri-La Hotel.
